Any fool can pay full price, so half the fun of shopping is seeking out the real steals. Study this list of Florida’s greatest outlet malls and stores known for carrying fabulous labels at rock-bottom prices.
Maruchi (15355 S. Dixie Hwy., Miami, 305-255-4693; 7863 SW 40th St., Miami, 305-266-7136) is every Miami bargain hunter’s best-kept secret for cute clubbing attire and a chic work wardrobe. Both locations are tiny and inconspicuous with a no-frills, white-walled warehouse feel. Browse racks of sharp BCBG suits, Bisou Bisou tops and A.B.S. dresses (don’t bother calling, just go: they won’t disclose the labels they carry over the phone) at savings of more than 50 percent.
Loehmann’s (18701 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura, 305-932-4207) is where to snatch up Marc Jacobs denim jackets and button-down shirts and great leather skirts by Calvin Klein currently sold elsewhere at full-price. Join the Insider Club (it’s free!) to earn points redeemable for future blanket discounts, find out about special new shipments and hear about upcoming three-hour specials—usually held on Sunday and Monday mornings over three-day weekends. Shop up to four days before and four days after your birthday and save an additional 15 percent on everything.
Sawgrass Mills Mall (12801 W. Sunrise Blvd., Sunrise, 954-846-2300) is so large it takes an entire day to do it right. Off Fifth: Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet (954-846-2300) receives its new merchandise on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings: You’ll find a lot of current (read: overstock) Theory and Juicy Couture, as well as the occasional amazing Missoni and Prada piece at savings of 33 to 70 percent. For timeless (albeit last-season) scarves, sunglasses and leather handbags, stop by Salvatore Ferragamo (954-846-7117).
Dolphin Mall's (11401 NW 12th St., Miami, 305-365-7446) Splash Perfumes (1-877-273-7386) sells all the popular big scents at 20 to 40 percent savings, but ask for “tester bottles” for an additional deal. If the store happens to have any in stock, forgo the pretty box and buy the same size bottle at steep savings (i.e. a 3.4 oz. tester bottle of Dolce & Gabbana for $51; regular outlet price, $64; regular retail price, $80). Shipments at BCBG/Max Azria (305-593-2928) come Friday night, so stop by Saturday morning for the best selection of last year’s pieces marked down 30 to 70 percent. Neiman Marcus Last Call Clearance Center (305-591-1101) sells extravagant John Galliano gowns and Gucci handbags: Come for the storewide anniversary sale (40 to 70 percent savings) every November.
