More than 250 guests recently attended a special celebration hosted by The Residences at The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort in honor of Project: New Born founder Schatzi Kassal.
On the Third Floor Terrace of Bal Harbour Shops overlooking The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, which is nearly completed, Frits van Paasschen, President and CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide (NYSE:HOT), and Sergio Rivera, CEO of Starwood Vacation Ownership presented Project: New Born with a $50,000 contribution in Kassal’s name.
For nearly four decades, Kassal has been a tireless supporter of the organization and the fragile infants it serves in the Newborn Special Care Center at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Kassal sincerely thanked Starwood and the “two Stanleys” in her life – husband Stanley Kassal and Bal Harbour Shops Owner Stanley Whitman.
“This generous donation will help fund the specialized care South Florida’s tiniest babies need – giving them a chance to survive and thrive,” Kassal said.
“With completion of The Residences at The St. Regis Bal Harbour scheduled for this Fall, we wanted to do something truly special for an important Bal Harbour organization,” said John Manrique, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Project: New Born provides vital advocacy and assistance for our community’s premature and at-risk infants, and Schatzi Kassal has helped spearhead this noteworthy philanthropy.”
In addition to an array of delectable hors d’oeuvres and fine wines and champagne, guests were treated to a surprise presentation on the facade of The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort across Collins Avenue. As dusk enveloped the 27-story towers, a colossal interactive video featuring magicians Penn & Teller was projected onto the middle hotel building. The magicians, along with the event’s host, CBS4’s Lisa Petrillo, flawlessly executed a card trick, engaging the entire audience.
The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort marks Starwood’s return to Bal Harbour Village and is the company’s largest waterfront development in the United States. The three spectacular oceanfront buildings are being developed on the site of the former Sheraton Bal Harbour.
Situated within an exclusive beachfront enclave, The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort will be a distinguished hotel and condominium encompassing 270 one- to five-bedroom ultra-luxury tower residences, 37 condo/hotel suites and 205 hotel rooms, including a Presidential Suite. Nearing completion, the property’s three all-glass towers rise 27 stories above an expansive stretch of beach on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The St. Regis Signature Butler Service will offer white-glove service beyond expectations, and a 12,000 square-foot RemèdeSM Spa will provide exceptional experiences and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Additional amenities include fine dining restaurants, childcare, and poolside cabana and beach services.
Scheduled for completion this Fall, The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort is located at 9701 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour, Florida, across from Bal Harbour Shops. The Residences at The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort sales center is open on-site.
