Rhythm Foundation Kicks Off its 27th Season

Caetano Veloso

The Rhythm Foundation is well known for presenting world-class concerts in Miami, but they also know how to throw a good party. The annual RF Members’ Season Launch celebration was held at the Perez Art Museum Miami’s beautiful waterfront terrace in conjunction with the grand opening of the new Tropicalia-inspired exhibition, Beatriz Milhazes: Jardim Botânico. The evening featured the Brazilian day-glo psychedelic sounds of DC-based band Alma Tropicalia, and the deep-cuts of Brazilian vinyl junkie DJ Marcello Bentine. RF members enjoyed a private area to celebrate a great new season of music. The silent auction offerings were as eclectic as the organization’s programming. Members anxiously bid on autographed guitars, weekend getaways, unique art and front row tickets to upcoming shows.

A definite highlight of this arts season in Miami was the performance by Brazilian legend Caetano Veloso and his Banda Cê at the Fillmore Miami Beach. The Abraçaço tour is the final installment of a trilogy in this configuration. To the delight of the sold-out crowd, Caetano performed songs from the Latin Grammy nominated album, as well as many classics from his vast repertoire. El Nuevo Herald said that Caetano Veloso’s concert “was not only spectacular and showed the creative light of the singer-songwriter, but also proved that the Brazilian and world music legend has not forgotten the primordial need to have fun.”

Caetano Veloso in concert was presented with support from TAM Airlines, Espirito Santo Bank, FIAT of North Miami, Piquet Law Firm, Vinicola Salton, Acontece Magazine, Gazeta Brazilian News, Novecento Restaurants, and the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council.
