Gala Purim Ball 2015 Vision 20/20: Looking Back/Looking Forward

JMOF-FIU 20th Anniversary Celebration!

Honorary Chairs Jessica & Nathan Lieberman and Alan & Diane Lieberman with Executive Director Jo Ann Arnowitz

In honor of its 20th Anniversary, the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU (JMOF-FIU) hosted a special gala, chaired by Diane & Alan and Jessica & Nathan Lieberman, with the theme: Vision 20/20: Looking Back/Looking Forward. The evening also celebrated Miami Beach’s Centennial and the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Florida International University.

Guests enjoyed a lavish cocktail reception on the terrace of Jungle Island’s Treetop Ballroom, hosted by Greenberg Traurig, P.A., as they viewed an unique display of original masks, decorated and donated by artists and celebrities for a silent auction. Event Chairs Ronalee & Russell Galbut helped plan the elegant evening of stunning décor, delectable dinner, and music that brought guests on their feet dancing to the tunes of Steve Chase and His Orchestra. Honors were presented to a Queen Esther’s Court of multi-generations of seven prominent Florida Jewish families for their contributions to Jewish life throughout the state and beyond, sponsored by the Robert Arthur Segall Foundation. A video paying tribute to the first 20 years of the Museum was screened, ending with a look toward the future, and the next generations to carry on the Museum’s mission in the decades ahead. Guests departed with a commemorative 20th Anniversary Gala Album with family photographs and Purim party favors as keepsakes, including feathered masks, festive grogger noisemakers, and boxes filled with traditional hamentaschen cookies, nuts and sweets.

Next year’s event will be an intimate evening at the Museum, held in March 2016. For 2016 sponsorship and planning opportunities, please contact development@jewishmuseum.com or 786-972-3162.
