The Adrienne Arsht Center's young patron's group, The Green Room
Society, celebrated the performing arts last Sunday, April 6 with an
effervescent brunch that got them all sipping mimosas and bloody marys.
Attendees got to know each other and buzzed with anticipation about the
matinee of smash hit, "Forbidden Broadway".
This event transported attendees to New York City within the Arsht
Center as guests were greeted by a roomful of city lights and a familiar
skyline during the brunch in the B. and Donald Carlin Banquet Hall. The
young and the "young at heart" guests were then led down to view
"Forbidden Broadway" at 2pm in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater- featuring
outrageous costumes, hilarious spoofs of Broadway's best songs, and
madcap impressions by the stellar NY cast.
Attendees included Katie Dean, Stephanie Cofino, Maria and Al Maloof,
Rafa Carvajal and Julie Stotlar, and Amy Rosenberg. With over 100
guests, this event was a success and many made new friends with whom to
attend future shows. "It's great to see such beautiful young crowd
interested in the arts and contributing money through their new memberships at
the Arsht Center," says Arsht Center new VP of Development, Arthur
Hernandez.
The Green Room Society holds events that introduce a new group of young
Miamians to Adrienne Arsht Center and the performing arts. Two years
ago, a group of about 20 enthusiastic young leaders helped launch the
Green Room Society. Today the group boasts over 150 members and
contributes a significant amount to the annual goals of the Center each year.
The group is committed to developing and expanding audiences, while
building a significant community of young individuals who have a passion for
the performing arts. Their efforts are essential to the future success
of the Adrienne Arsht Center and to the performing arts in South
Florida.
Members make annual contributions of $125 or more. Their generosity and
vital work for the Center is rewarded through numerous benefits, which
include special access to cocktails parties, performances and
educational activities, giving them a unique entrée into the Center and the
performing arts as a whole. Visit http://www.arshtcenter.org/join for
more information on membership.
Contributions from the GRS help support the Center's commitment to
diversify, broaden and strengthen its audience through arts and education
programs in the community for young people and their families from a
variety of ethnic, geographic and socio-economic backgrounds. For more
