Cleveland Orchestra Miami announced that the 10th Anniversary Season Gala evening held raised nearly $600,000. Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s Gala celebrated ten seasons as a vital part of Miami’s cultural community. The Gala celebration was a tribute to the ongoing partnership between The Cleveland Orchestra and the Miami community in sharing world-class music through concert performances, education presentations, and community events.

Susan and Jeffrey D. Feldman, Cleveland Orchestra Miami 10th Anniversary Season Gala Chairs commented, “The gala concert and celebration marked a special milestone in Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s history. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this evening such a wonderful success, beginning with this organization’s Founders, who had the vision to dream big. Much hard work and collaboration has helped The Cleveland Orchestra become a beloved part of Miami’s cultural season. Through the generosity and passion of many, Cleveland Orchestra Miami – for a decade now! – has been adding to the vitality of our great city. With growing support from across Miami-Dade, we will continue to change the lives in South Florida through the power of great music. Ten years is just the beginning.”

The Gala was Chaired by Susan and Jeffrey Feldman, with Honorary Chairs Florence and Sheldon Anderson, Hector Fortun, Jan Lewis, and Sue Miller. Distinguished sponsors for the Gala are Patrick Park, Sue Miller, Jan Lewis, and Ginger Warner.

The evening featured Music Director Franz Welser-Möst and world-renowned soprano Renée Fleming who joined The Cleveland Orchestra in performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County’s Knight Concert Hall. The concert program is available online. Students from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music performed at the Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall lobby as guests arrived. The performance was followed by a reception and dinner at the InterContinental Hotel where guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner and a special 10th Anniversary Cleveland Orchestra Miami video highlighting the impact of Cleveland Orchestra Miami (the video can be seen on Youtube here.) More than 300 people attended the reception and dinner portion of the Gala evening.

Cleveland Orchestra Miami’s 2015-16 season concludes with performances on March 17, 18, and 19 that feature the world premiere of Siklòn, a new work by Avner Dorman commissioned for The Cleveland Orchestra by the Adrienne Arsht Center to celebrate the organizations’ ten-year partnership. Siklòn will celebrate the diverse influences that comprise Miami’s musical landscape. A native of Israel living in the United States, Dorman has written music described by The Washington Post as “… sophisticated enough to appeal to an audience of classical aficionados, and approachable enough to appeal to people who have never been to an orchestra concert.” Also on the program is Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 (“Titan”), and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
