April 4th, 2008, was a day of celebrating 5 Women of Distinction & Caring. The inaugural luncheon, chaired by Joyce Galbut, Captain Marvin Greenwald, USN Ret, and Elliot Kalus, was attended by 240 guests. Held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Miami, guests enjoyed mimosas while exploring a silent auction and testing the new State-of-the-art Rehabilitation Equipment that will be used by residents of the Hebrew Homes Plaza Health Network whether in short term rehab or long term skilled nursing care.

Following the reception, guests were treated to a lavish lunch. The best part of the day was honoring 5 women who have set the standard for excellence in service to their community. “All of our honorees have had an impact on the residents served daily at the Hebrew Homes Plaza Health Network. From direct service for the elderly... to care in a hospital... to research to find a cure... and to communicating the latest in health care news, each of these individuals has touched our lives through their professional and/or volunteer work”, said Dr. William Zubkoff, President & CEO of Hebrew Homes. Honorees were introduced to the guests by Emcee, Michael Aller followed by a video showcasing their work.

A Brief History:
In 1954 a group of Jewish women living on Miami Beach, identified a need for a convalescent home in which medically frail elderly could receive care that they desperately needed. They raised the funds, purchased the first Hebrew Home in south Beach and since that time the network has grown and prospered. Today the not-for-profit Hebrew Homes Plaza Health Network serves over 850 residents and their families. The staff provide The Right Care... At The Right Time... In The Right Place... With Dignity and Respect incorporating the same values of outstanding quality of care for each resident that began the Hebrew Homes.

The Women of Distinction & Caring Luncheon will be an annual event to benefit rehabilitation programs of the Hebrew Homes Plaza Health Network.
