The lush gardens of the historic Vizcaya museum created an enchanting setting for the inaugural Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon. The Vizcayans—joined by the Italian luxury fashion house, Salvatore Ferragamo—played host to an extravagant afternoon soirée that was perfectly suited for outdoor champagne toasts and lighthearted mingling among distinguished guests. In honor of its newly renovated Bal Harbour boutique, Salvatore Ferragamo made a significant donation toward the restoration and preservation of the cherished gardens.

The luncheon reprised the fashionable daytime events in the formal Italianate gardens, which were a tradition in Vizcaya’s early years as a public museum. The event’s theme, inspired by the Central Park Conservancy “Hat” Luncheon held each year in New York, invited guests to attend in their most fashion-forward headwear. More than 300 of Miami’s notable men and women came dressed in elegant hats and other finery; many donning Ferragamo in honor of the occasion.

“South Florida is very important to Salvatore Ferragamo; and we are thrilled to support this market by contributing to this special, chic Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon, which enhances our commitment to art and architecture,” said Vincent Ottomanelli, president of Salvatore Ferragamo USA.

After a cocktail hour, Norma Quintero, president of The Vizcayans, joined Ottomanelli in welcoming the attendees with a few words that established the afternoon’s theme of new partnerships, fabulous fashions and breathtaking flowers. After a photo opportunity for the Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon Founding Committee, guests descended into the garden area where crisp white tables flaunted colorful, blooming floral arrangements designed by Karla Dascal of Karla Conceptual Events -- each of them adorned with a selected Ferragamo fabric. Guests enjoyed a decadent four-course lunch that included wines and dessert. The event also included a raffle that included prizes from Ferragamo, Neiman Marcus and Gurkha Cigars.

Special thanks to the Following: The Four Seasons-Brickell, National Distributors, Cindy Carr, De Beers, Gurkha Cigars, Beach Cigar Group inc., Karla Conceptual Event Experiences, RikRak Salon-Boutique-Bar, The Patton Group and Kim Wood for chairing the program book.
