NFAA 25th Anniversary Gala

A spectacular "Affair of the Arts" in support of our nations’ most gifted emerging young artists.

More than 1600 enthusiastic supporters of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) turned out to celebrate its 25th Anniversary at one of South Florida’s all-time most magnificent evenings. Set overlooking the water at Bayfront Park, 150,000 sq ft of tenting accommodated the dining room wrapped around the famed Pepper fountain and a 1,600-seat theatre. Touch Catering, was selected to design the food and beverages for the evening. Under the direction of David Tornek and Executive Chef Sean Brasel, Touch Catering served a lavish array of hors d’oeuvres and drinks from an 80-foot illuminated bar during the cocktail reception. After the elegant sit-down dinner, dessert was served in the theatre-nightclub from two 12-foot dessert displays, complete with chocolate fountains, and four roving "dessert girls."

It was an ongoing evening of dining, dancing and entertainment with a performance by the New World Symphony and the presence of internationally famed arts icons Mikhail Baryshnikov, Plácido Domingo, and Jacques d’Amboise. Actress/singer Vanessa Williams received NFAA’s First Alumni Award following her breathtaking performance, and NWS’s Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas received the 6th Annual Arison Award.

Co-chairs were Mary and Howard Frank, Jane and Gerald Katcher, Toni and Carol Randolph, and Hazel and Larry Rosen. Governor Jeb Bush was present to applaud NFAA and its honorees. The celebration’s principal sponsors were Carnival Cruise Lines, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and SunTrust.
