The joyful and vibrant world of Bollywood came to North Miami, as the Museum of Contemporary Art hosted POP BOLLYWOOD a spectacular fundraiser in the theme of the popular Mumbai-based film genre. Chaired by Lourdes Jofre-Collett and Diane and Alan Lieberman, more than 800 guests attended MOCA’s POP BOLLYWOOD which raised funds for the museum’s permanent collection and public programs.

Le Basque Catering & Productions and KARLA Conceptual Events transformed the museum into a magical palace with magenta and tangerine-colored fabric, beaded cushions, sensuous carvings, dramatic lighting, Bhangra dancers and Bollywood film clips. Partygoers sampled tantalizing dishes from Mint Leaf Indian Brasserie, Shiraz Catering and Sonesta Coconut Grove Bayfront Hotel while sipping Kingfisher Beer and Grey Goose Vodka’s newest cocktail “Slumdog Melloniare” created especially for that evening. Many of the guests embraced the spirit of the evening by dressing in richly-colored shimmering saris or elegant tunics.

MOCA Executive Director Bonnie Clearwater and POP Chairs Lourdes Jofre Collett and Diane Lieberman wore beautiful jewels from Cartier which sponsored the luxurious VIP lounge area “The Ruby Room”. Actor Manu Narayan, star of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Bombay Dreams” and Mike Myers' co-star in “The Love Guru” graciously thanked patrons for their support of the arts and MOCA, and Bollywood actress and dancer Pallavi Sharda gave an exquisite performance, inspiring patrons to keep the dance floor packed.

Guests included Alan and Diane Lieberman who hosted the Indian actors at their South Beach hotel, The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club, Honorary POP Chair Belkys Nerey of WSVN, POP sponsors Sofia and Mike Segal , MOCA Chairman Irma Braman and husband Norman, Asim Chauham of The India-US Chamber of Commerce South Florida who procured an exquisite tour of India courtesy of the Oberoi Hotel & Resorts, MOCA Board members Ray Ellen Yarkin and her husband Allan, Sandy and Michael Collins, Anabel Sotelo Aloni of Cartier Bal Harbour, Zoa Martinez of Zona Design, Ranjit Sood of Mint Leaf Indian Brasserie, Rita Cabases, Jody and Peter Robbins, Shulamit Katzman, Jason and Haley Binn, Zubin Nagpal and Susan and Bob Zarchen.
