Miami Children’s Museum Carnival

A Smashing Success

Norma Jean Abraham and Irene Korge
Miami Children’s Museum (MCM) 6th Birthday Family Carnival had a first-class array of carnival rides, entertainment, food, and fun giveaways. A 20-foot tall elephant arch greeted guests, one of many surprising decorations throughout the grounds to celebrate the museum’s birthday and Grandparents’ Day.

DJs played music, as children rode ponies and scrambled up amusement rides. Ice cream, birthday cake, hot dogs, and other treats were enjoyed by all, and a larger-than-life Clifford the Big Red Dog and the Museum’s own mascot Michimu, played with guests. The event also included professional family photos, a Serenity Lounge by Bloomingdales and Starbucks, face painting and balloon art, and art demos with prominent local artists including Darren Brass, James Hamilton, Alex Yanes, Ralph Cabrera and Daniel Marin.

Co-Chairs Norma Jean Abraham and Irene Korge joined in the festivities. Other guests included the new Board Chair Jeff Berkowitz, Anthony R. Abraham of the Anthony R. Abraham Foundation, Romero Britto, The Paresky Family and MCM board members Melissa Krinzman, Gary Reshefsky, Julie Paresky, Stephanie Rosen and Jenni Roig.

The Museum’s first ever Family Carnival was also a financial success, raising more than $65,000 to support Miami Children’s Museum’s educational programs and exhibits.
