2005 Greater Miami Jewish Federation Main Event ‘Into the Tent’ raises more than $2.4 million

Federation President Michael M. Adler, Debra Braman Wechsler and Federation Past President Aaron Podhurst with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation's Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award.
The Greater Miami Jewish Federation 2006 Main Event – Into the Tent, drew 1,500 Jewish community leaders to the Fontainebleau Resort on December 14 and raised more than $2.4 million. The event launched the 2006 Federation/UJA Campaign, which provides a vital lifeline of services to people in Miami, in Israel and in 60 countries around the world. The event’s “Into the Tent” theme has significance in Jewish history as the tent, with four open sides, serves as both a symbol and a reminder that the Jewish community welcomes people from all over the world. The event was chaired by George Feldenkreis, with Rebeca Delaster, Jonathan Mayer, Daniel Halberstein, Laura Kaplan, Gary Mars, Stevan and Adrienne Pardo, Sidney and Nadine Pertnoy, Lezlie Poyastro, Michelle Ressler, Dr. Barry Silverman, Tracey Spiegelman, David Weck and Richard Yulman serving as Vice Chairs. Renowned attorney, educator and author, Harvard Law School Professor Alan M. Dershowitz, was the keynote speaker. Prominent civic leaders and benefactors Irma and Norman Braman were honored with the Federation’s Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award, in recognition of their many years of outstanding friendship and support for the Jewish people in Miami and in Israel. Accepting on the Bramans’ behalf was their daughter, Debra Braman Wechsler.
