7th Annual Ball of the Wild for Metrozoo
On Saturday, March 4th, the seventh annual Ball of the Wild, hosted by Dave Barry, was held by the Zoological Society of Florida (ZSF) at Miami Metrozoo. More than $400,000 was raised to benefit the ZSF’s education and conservation programs on behalf of the Zoo.
Ball of the Wild Chairs, Theresa and Bill O’Donnell, invited Zoo supporters in black-tie and safari chic attire to an evening of wild animal encounters, extravagant auctions and a superb dinner followed by live music and dancing. ZSF Chairman of the Board David Konfino encouraged guests to continue their appreciation for the world's wildlife, especially via their support of the ZSF in its 50th year. Konfino also spoke of the Zoo’s master plan and future Tropical America exhibit opening in late 2007.
Honorary Co-Chairs R. Kirk Landon, Pamela Garrison and Cynthia Knight were among the 500 Zoo philanthropists that attended the gala. Former host of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Jim Fowler presented Miami Metrozoo’s Ron Magill with the 2006 Wildlife Ambassador Award.
