36th Biscayne Bay Gala
Miami attorney Ron Lowy, who has spent his life dedicated to public service, equality, and justice, recently accepted the 2015 Michael Shores Citizen of the Year Award from the Biscayne Bay Kiwanis Club (biscaynebaykiwanis.org) at its highly successful 36th Biscayne Bay Gala.
The event, held at the Jungle Island Treetop Ballroom, attracted more than 300 people and raised more than $100,000 for the club’s many philanthropic activities. WPLG TV’s Emmy Award-winning Michael Putney was Master of Ceremonies.
A Night in Old Shanghai
The Coral Gables Community Foundation celebrated its 24th annual gala, a Night in Old Shanghai, on Friday, October 16, at the Coral Gables Country Club, attracting nearly 400 of Miami’s philanthropic, social, civic and business influencers, many who turned out in Mandarin flair.
The gala, co-chaired by Sissy DeMaria and Mary Young, raised funds earmarked for worthy Gables High School students pursuing dreams of a college education among other passionate projects the Foundation champions. This success was thanks in large part to a generous matching pledge by long-time Foundation supporters Matthew Meehan and Rod Hildebrant.
2015 Diamond Ball
The South Florida community came together on October 10, 2015 to celebrate Miami Children’s Health Foundation’s Diamond Ball: Diamonds Are Forever. The black-tie affair raised more than $3 million including announced gifts, for the children and families of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, formerly Miami Children’s Hospital, and brought together more than 800 guests to the JW Marriott Marquis Miami.
Global music superstar, Armando Christian Pérez “Pitbull”, was recognized for his contribution to the community and his continued support to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as celebrity Ambassador to Together For The Children, The Campaign for Miami Children’s. Pérez was inducted into the Ambassador David M. Walters International Pediatric Hall of Fame for exemplifying his passion for helping children throughout the world.
