Onyx Women Arts Network Launches @ Arsht Center
The Arsht Center launched the Onyx Women Arts Network: Women of Color + Culture (OWAN) in partnership with MIA Media Group with a private dinner attended by 90 culturally-minded female professionals from all over South Florida. OWAN’s mission is to deepen the connection between the black and African-American community and the Arsht Center. Hosted at the Center’s BRAVA by Brad Kilgore, the event featured five-time Grammy Award-nominated rapper “Dice Raw” (Karl Jenkins) of the legendary The Roots crew and also included the launch of the Miami Diaspora Fund, a new Arsht Center initiative that exists to commission and present transformative works by artists of color who have been historically underrepresented on America’s performing arts stages.
Childrens Resources Musical Gala
As the sun began to set over the elegant Four Seasons Hotel, excitement filled the air as Childrens Resources hosted its 40th Anniversary Musical Gala. A sold-out crowd celebrated 40 years of the schools accomplishments with a lively cocktail hour featuring an enchanting greeter whose dress span 20 feet long to welcome guests, a fabulous silent auction, five course dinner and an evening of dancing; all to benefit children with special needs.
8th Annual “The Auction” Sets New Record for Camillus House
This year's event, chaired by Ravneet Rekhi Chowdhury and presented by American Airlines, featured a gourmet dinner prepared by award winning Chef Michelle Bernstein and hilarious entertainment by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and humorist Dave Barry. The silent and live auctions offered fabulous wines, jewelry, travel, and lifestyle items. The top selling auction item was a week's stay at a sumptuous villa in the South of France - raising $70,000 for Camillus House.
Arsht Centers Imagination Ball kickoff event at Villa Serena
The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Arsht Families, a volunteer committee of parents dedicated to supporting children's access to the performing arts at the Arsht Center, proudly announces the 3rd children's Imagination Ball on October 14, 2018. As a kick off to this anticipated event, Imagination Ball Chairs, Jennifer Montoya, Katharine Rubino and Annie Zeder, recently held a breakfast at Villa Serena, the home of Adrienne Arsht. Guests were treated to a preview of the upcoming event as well as a moving speech by an AileyCamp Miami alum to further inform guests about the importance and impact the Center's arts education and community engagement programs have on local youth.
