Details
Hailed as one of the most influential playwrights of our time, Tarell Alvin McCraney, a 1999 graduate of the New World School of the Arts High School Theater program, welcomes the New Year with Play Readings, in celebration of NWSA’s 30th Anniversary. The Play Reading sessions bring to the New World Dance Theater stage McCraney’s award-winning play – The Brother/Sister Plays, with an early afternoon reading of In the Red and Brown Water (2 p.m.) and an early evening reading of The Brothers Size (7 p.m.), followed by a Bonus Scene of McCraney’s Choir Boy. The cast includes, the original cast of Manhattan Theatre production of Choir Boy and Nic Ashe, starring in Queen Sugar on the OWN network and Jeremy Pope. Award winning actress Alana Arenas, who is a Steppenwolf Company member, will also be joining the cast. Tickets are $30 for one reading and $50 for both. Guests who attend both sessions will also have the opportunity to meet McCraney and the full cast of performers during a special Meet & Greet Reception, held in between play readings.
