National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) launched Outside the Box, a new series featuring free performances by YoungArts alumni supported by ArtPlace America. The multisensory extravaganza took place on the YoungArts Plaza, located outside of the Jewel Box on the organization's Miami campus. The first performance of the series featured GRAMMY Award-nominated musician Dave Eggar, who was joined by Michele de la Reza, Kate Davis, Ernest Baker, Jake Goldbas, Andrew Nemr, Brittanie Brown and Allysen Hooks. The talented dancers and musicians brought to life the YoungArts campus, using it as an interactive laboratory for their performance, which included a family-friendly improvisational act, and a preview of their Festival Miami show. The show offered a glimpse into the creative process of these world-class performers and a one-of-a-kind piece of art, with the Jewel Box as the inspiration for the spontaneous creation of original music and dance.
