Several hundred South Floridians celebrated the reopening of the Simon Wiesenthal Center Southern Region, and enjoyed the dramatic documentary Winston Churchill: Walking With Destiny, a deeply moving true story of one of the 20th century’s most celebrated figures. The film, which is being screened nationwide, was written by Rabbi Marvin Hier and Richard Trank and produced by Moriah’s Films, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s two-time Academy Award-winning film production company. It is narrated by Sir Ben Kingsley, and recounts Churchill's years in the political wilderness, his early opposition to Adolf Hitler and Nazism, and his support for Jews under threat by the Nazi regime. The South Florida screenings were at the Boca Cinemark and the Regal Cinema South Beach and were followed by a dessert reception.
