Wolfsonian–Florida International University founder Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson, Jr. and director, Cathy Leff, hosted a dinner in honor of architect Rene Gonzalez to celebrate his recent recognitions and what was an exciting and pivotal moment for the firm, Rene Gonzalez Architect. The firm was awarded a 2011 National AIA Award for the design of Alchemist, a Miami AIA Award for the Bilzin Residence. The office has also received an important new commission for a boutique hotel in Guatemala, a scintillating structure embracing the natural landscape overlooking Lake Atitlan.

The stunning reception took place at an Indian Creek Island home, designed by Rene and his firm, which was described by the Wall Street Journal as the “60 million dollar dream house.” The event drew guests including director of Design Miami, Marianne Goebl; Wolfsonian Advisory Board Chair Michael N. Kreitzer; Walid and Suzy Wahab; Marian Davis; and Robert Wennett & Mario Cader-Frech, among others.
