Nico’s Promise: A Journey of Hope and Healing hosted its fifth annual fashion show titled Siempre. The event took place at the Hilton Miami Downtown where more than 450 guests raised thousands in funds to benefit the bereavement program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
Nico’s Promise: A Journey of Hope and Healing, provides ongoing support to parents, siblings, grandparents and other family members who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The services of Nico’s Promise are offered free of charge and provide the entire family the unique opportunity to celebrate the life of their lost child while also encouraging families to harness their inner strength to accept, grieve, and persevere in a healthy manner during this most vulnerable time.

“We are beyond thankful for everybody who took time to come out to the event, volunteer and donate. The growth of this program would not be possible without the continuous contributions we receive from all members of the community,” explained Alina Hernandez, Nico’s grandmother. For the past seven years, Nico’s Promise has been serving families who have suffered the loss of a child by allowing them to attend countless group sessions and annual celebrations of life.
Nico’s Promise seeks to serve as an industry-benchmarking standard for inpatient as well as outpatient bereavement services at children’s hospitals across the country. Since the inception of Nico’s Promise in 2012, they have provided over 450 individual counseling sessions, while reaching out in person, via phone and / or letter to nearly 200 eligible families.
“Our foundation is very thankful to have the generosity of Jorge and Alina Hernandez, and all the families who support this event. It’s easy to see how special this event is for our children and their families. The financial commitment to the Nico’s Promise program allows many families to benefit from our bereavement services now, and for years to come,” said Michelle Boggs, president of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation.
