MCCJ’s 76th annual Humanitarian Dinner celebrated the heroes of the present and the voices of the future at the Four Seasons Hotel. Over four hundred guests attended the sold-out event that has become one of the season’s highlights. Recipients of the prestigious Silver Medallions, presented since 1946, were Humanitarians Hilarie Bass, Richard D. Fain and Dr. Rudolph Moise, Clergy Rev. Dr. Patrick O’Neill and Rabbi Solomon Schiff, and for Lifetime Achievement Donald I. Bierman. An MCCJ dinner always holds surprises and this year was no exception. A parade of jazz musicians performed 76 Trombones, celebrating MCCJ’s 76th anniversary, and teens from Voices United and Heritage Panels provided a meaningful program. Zammy Migdal’s sculptural centerpieces were sold as a fundraiser for MetroTown, a teen summer leadership program. The spirit of the evening was embraced when dinner chairs Gail and Albert Dotson, Jr., Amira and Saif Ishoof and Michelle Ramirez and Leon Patricios lit the Unity Candle.
