Jewish Community Services of South Florida started the New Year off on a sweet note for 550 elderly, disabled and homebound people at its annual Milk & Honey event. The largest crowd ever – 600 volunteers – recently gathered to assemble and deliver kosher food baskets and spend time visiting with recipients to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
The Milk & Honey food distribution campaign was strongly supported by a number of community leaders, including co-chairs Vanessa and Gary Ressler, Amy and David Scharlin and Hili and Marty Scheck. The JCS Alliance support group of young professionals -- whose Milk & Honey committee chairs were Amy Klosky, Jennifer Kramer, Dana Richards and Laura Sheridan -- also participated by going to Federation Towers, a residential facility for seniors on Miami Beach, to deliver food and provide music and refreshments.
