Many lives were changed across America on 9/11, and Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO) was no exception. The organization named its Spirit of Life luncheon in honor of Michelle Goldstein, who passed in the devastating terrorist attack.

Now in its 10th year, the Michelle Goldstein Spirit of Life luncheon is one of JAFCO’s biggest fundraisers. More than 250 people attended thr event held at the Weston Hills Country Club, and more than $35,000 was raised, including three Godparent commitments. The Godparent Circle is an elite group of donors who spiritually adopt all of the JAFCO children. JAFCO Godparents provide safety and security for the children by making a 10 year minimum pledge of $1,800 per year to support the needs of the JAFCO children including food, shelter, clothing, education and therapy. The Spirit of Life luncheon honors volunteers who are dedicated to supporting JAFCO and its mission to care for abused, neglected and special needs children in the community, and to work in partnership with families and the entire child welfare community. This year the Women of the Year Award was presented to Melissa Morris and Elsa Zoberg. For more information about JAFCO, please contact Gail Marlow, Director of Development of JAFCO, at 561-372-0103 ext. 137 or email gail@jafco.org.
