More than 550 people attended the 16th Annual Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO) Women’s Luncheon at Jungle Island’s Treetop Ballroom. This year’s event raised more than $122,000 to benefit the abused and neglected children in the tri-county area. The theme of the luncheon was “Live, Laugh, Lunch,” which provided an afternoon of comedy and fun for attendees.
During the luncheon program, JAFCO held its traditional ceremony to welcome new Godparents, breaking a new record of 14 pinning’s at the event. In addition to the 14, one Godparent committed to save the lives of another generation of JAFCO children for an additional 10 years while another member committed to become a Godparent for Life. The Godparent Circle is an elite group of donors who spiritually adopt all of the JAFCO children. Their financial gift ensures that the children have all of their needs met by making their gift of $18,000 over a 10-year period or $1,800 annually.
JAFCO chapter presidents from all over South Florida were honored for giving their continuous support of abused and neglected children. Ellen Greenspoon, past Annual Luncheon Chair received the JAFCO Women of Valor award for her many years of service as the annual chairperson.
