Event Raises $935,000 to Fund Lifesaving Research

The American Heart Association celebrated its annual Broward Heart Ball, chaired by Gerry Litento, Senior Executive Vice President of Bank United, and raised $935,000. CBS4's meteorologist Jeff Berardelli emceed the premier event which was held at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa and drew support from Broward’s top medical, social and philanthropic leaders. This year's Legacy Sponsor, Patriot National Insurance Group, has supported the gala for the past three years, and its Chairman and CEO Steven M. Mariano is the event’s past Chairman. At the gala, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, dined on healthy culinary delights and listened to live music from the Drew T. Live Band and Black Violin. Themed “Ignite,” the Broward Heart Ball featured spectacular silent and live auctions, with an assortment of unique items and experiences – from high-end jewelry to extravagant destination packages, sports memorabilia and more.
