Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami and the Lowenstein Family hosted the 7th annual Big Impact Breakfast at the Ritz Carlton South Beach. Over 350 people attended the “friendraiser” event to learn more about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami and the life-changing impact of its mentoring programs. The 1-hour program opened with a musical presentation of Amazing Grace by former “Little” Bauldy Sharpe Jr, who is now attending Bethune Cookman College. Little Brother David shared his personal story of changing his life from being a juvenile delinquent in Liberty City to becoming 2012 Valedictorian at Booker T. Washington Senior High. He is a Gates Millennium Scholarship recipient and will be attending the University of Florida in the Fall. David spoke about how much his Big Brother meant to him. “I don’t know if I could have made it this far without the guidance and support of my Big Brother Fernand,” he said.
