The New World Symphony broke ground with a night of music and festivities, marking the beginning of construction on the academy’s new campus in the heart of Miami Beach, designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. The evening began with a cocktail hour followed by a performance of Gershwin’s An American in Paris. From there, everyone headed outside for a dramatic groundbreaking and party inside a gigantic tent on the construction site, which was decorated in an “industrial construction-chic” theme. The New World Symphony’s new facility is full of promise for the academy as well as South Florida—and this groundbreaking celebration made for a fantastic evening of promise and excitement.
