The Cancer Support Community Greater Miami, a non-profit that provides free educational, psychological and social support programs to adults with cancer and their loved ones, hosted its Annual Heart & Star Award Dinner at Temple Beth Am. Celebrating “life beyond cancer” and honoring two outstanding recipients, Adam E. Carlin and Joseph Roisman, the organization raised more than $200,000. Over 300 business and philanthropic leaders joined Emmy Award-winning news reporter and cancer survivor, Mistress of Ceremonies Laurie Stein to salute the honorees. Adam E. Carlin was given the Champion of the Community Spirit Award for his commitment to South Florida, and Joseph Roisman, recipient of the Champion of the Human Spirit Award, was honored as a cancer survivor and for being a beacon of light and hope for others faced with the disease.
