In keeping with its mission to support organizations and individuals who positively impact their local communities, Duffy's Foundation will host Girl Scout cooking classes. Four classes through the summer will be held at Duffy’s Sport Grill’s state-of-the-art Culinary Arts Studio. Led by Palm Beach resident, Duffy’s Foundation Chairwoman, and Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida Board Member Geri Emmett, Girl Scouts will learn valuable cooking and teamwork skills and how to create healthy meals. Duffy’s Corporate Executive Chefs Eric Parker and Dave Hill will assist the group. Each Girl Scout will earn an exclusive Duffy’s Cooking Patch, along with the Girl Scouts USA Simple Meals Badge, and each will take home their prepared meals, a custom Duffy’s apron, jar openers, measuring cups, recipe cards and the skills to recreate these meals for friends and family.
CocoWalk is getting a facelift! One of Miami’s most iconic retail centers, CocoWalk, hosted a demo event and dinner for top brokers to showcase the ongoing redevelopment of the property. Plans include a new mixed-use development combining Class A offices, public spaces, and revamped retail including cafes, restaurants, boutiques, lifestyle, fitness, and entertainment offerings in the heart of Coconut Grove. Miami-born Sebastian Rojas, a 2018 graduate from the New World School of the Arts high school music program, was among the 300 students nationwide chosen to receive The Gates Scholarship this year. As a recipient, he will receive funding for the full cost of college attendance that is not already covered by other financial aid. Sebastian was selected from an initial pool of 28,700 applicants and 600 finalists from across the nation. With a nearly perfect SAT score and an impressive 5.1 weighted GPA, Sebastian has received more than $1.5 million in other scholarship offers from prominent U.S. universities including Emory, Northwestern, Brown, Princeton, Fordham, University of Miami among others. Rojas – a Baritone in the NWSA high school music division, will be attending Harvard University to pursue a career in the STEM field, although music and the arts will continue to be an integral part of his life. “I have always loved singing and listening to music, so I will forever try to be involved in the arts."
Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade announced new appointments to the organization’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Andres “Mo” Guilarte, formerly with Allstate Insurance in Coral Gables, has been named chair of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Board of Directors. Guilarte will serve in the position for a two-year term. He takes over from Peter L. Bermont, who recently completed a two-year term.
The Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach announced the naming of the Riccardo and Tatyana Silva Gallery on the museum’s first floor, following a $500,000 gift from the couple. Riccardo and Tatyana Silva are long-time supporters of The Bass and have a long-standing interest in art and culture. The Silvas have a wide-ranging record of supporting a number of causes and institutions in the U.S., Europe, and Africa.

On Wednesday, December 6, Amigos For Kids unveiled its full sensory art experience, Broken Crayons. Using Miami's largest art showcase as its platform, Amigos For Kids will display an exhibit with a hidden twist. The seemingly average installation will expose unsuspecting visitors to real drawings from real children, which later turned out to be troubling signs of abuse. The VIP event was attended by Pamela Silva Conde and Jomari Goyso.

Paulo and Lais Bacchi welcomed the stars of Artefacto’s annual Design House for cocktails and a rooftop dinner to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the luxury Brazilian furnishings brand in the U.S. The intimate evening took place in the 5,522-square-foot, $12.5 million penthouse in the coveted Grove at Grand Bay condominium, fully staged in Artefacto’s new anniversary collection that just arrived from Brazil.
