MTI Chairs of the 2012 Humanitarian Award Dinner the Honorable Raul Valdes-Fauli and his wife Francia with Dr. Andreas Tzakis, Director of the Liver and Gastrointestinal Transplant Program at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
More than 450 people are expected to attend the Humanitarian Award Celebration on Saturday, March 17th 2012 at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami, benefiting the Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Supporters from the business, social and celebrity community will join presenting sponsor Sharon & Mark Hamister and their special friends, along with the Honorable Raul Valdes-Fauli and his wife Francia, event chairs. MTI’s million-dollar philanthropists, Linda and Phil Corey, Judith and Dr. Robert Cornfeld, Norman Millstein and Cynthia and Terry Taylor will be honored at the event. The evening will also feature a luxury silent and live auction including a one-of-a-kind timepiece from Hublot and a spectacular South Africa safari.
The Humanitarian Award event celebrates the life-saving accomplishments of the MTI – the donors, the doctors, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital. Proceeds from the event will help the MTI lead the way to prevent organ rejection without the need for powerful anti-rejection medication, pioneer the development of additional sources of transplantable tissues from stem cells, and provide advanced patient care and education.
