Five Questions for Federico Sanchez
Founder of Menscience
Adriana and Federico Sanchez
What do we not know about skincare for men?
The whole idea is to be healthy and look great. It’s not about being beautiful or being a metro-sexual. Half our products do things such as treat acne and combat anti-aging. The other half is supplements for sports nutrition or pre and post workout. Most men would like to care better care of their skin and bodies, but they don’t know about MenScience.
So, it sounds as though Key Biscayners are among the Menscience target market.
We have customers in Key Biscayne. It’s upscale but relaxed. People want to look good. Not in a fancy way but in a natural, tropical outdoorsy way.
What’s your “only on Key Biscayne” moment?
Seeing dozens of baby turtles coming out of their nest at 5:30 am while I was running on the beach and almost stepping on them in the darkness. I stayed for another 30 minutes to make sure the last one made it safe to the water.
What philanthropic cause do you find most worthwhile?
At MenScience we also donate a portion of our vitamin sales to Vitamin Angels, a not-for-profit that makes vitamins and micronutrients available to malnourished children in developing countries.
What’s the best advice you ever got?
My dad always says: “The lazy person works twice as hard,” meaning if you’re lazy, you’ll end up working more.
