Bal Harbour Art Nights
The ongoing series continues with multiple exhibitions

Stella McCartney at MET Ball
Bal Harbour Art Nights returns to the Bal Harbour Shops on Wednesday, January 11 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

This second Art Nights of the season will feature the ongoing Chat Series at 6:00 pm at Neiman Marcus. This month’s chat is with Stefanie Block Reed from Art Basel Miami Beach and Silvia Karman Cubina from the Bass Museum. The discussion will focus on the first 10 years of Art Basel Miami Beach.

Reed is in charge of VIP relations for Art Basel Miami Beach and works as a fine arts consultant in Miami. Prior to her current position, she worked for Citibank's Art Advisory Service, a division of the Private Banking Service. At Citibank, Reed assisted clients of the Art Advisory Service in servicing, insuring and maintaining their collections. She also was Director of Sotheby’s in Miami where she worked with private collectors, museums, art galleries, fiduciaries and corporations. Additionally, in this capacity, Reed was a frequent guest lecturer on art and the art market and has worked with many corporations on organizing seminars, lectures and exhibitions.

Before Silvia Karma Cubina’s appointment to the Bass in 2008, she was the Founding Director of The Moore Space, an internationally - recognized contemporary art exhibition space in Miami, founded by collectors Rosa de la Cruz and Craig Robins. Prior to running The Moore Space, Cubiñá served as an independent Curator, and held the position of Adjunct Curator at INOVA, the Institute of Visual Arts, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Previously, she held positions at The Mexican Museum in San Francisco and the Cuban Museum of Art in Miami.

Also an exciting edition to the evening, Bal Harbour Magazine will host the opening of the new Stella McCartney, Bal Harbour store. The event will feature a sneak preview of the summer collection, popcorn and cocktails, and the artwork of British artist, David Batchelor.

Batchelor has created a window light box display for the Bal Harbour store and guests will be able to preview it that night. A Saatchi Gallery artist, Batchelor makes sculptural installations from objects found in the streets of London, hollowed, stacked and given a new life as empty but brightly colored light boxes or as unlit composites. Consistent throughout his works is the lurking familiarity of the material leftovers of modern life, from factory scrap to disused or broken domestic items, re-purposed into hypnotic beautifully patterned objects presenting a distillation of colors presence in our everyday environment.

Other activations to include: Seth Browarnick Captures the "Art of Night" in his Fashion Edition for Bal Harbour Shops in the Center Courtyard; Valentino boutique will present work from Sandro Chia, Valerio Adami, Mira Schendel, Sergio Camargo and Lygia Clark courtesy of Arevalo Gallery and benefiting the Art Nexus Foundation; Opera Gallery is presenting work from Fernando Botero and Gerard Rancinan; Segefredo Bal Harbour will display the vibrant work of Pablo Contriciani; and Books and Books will display the emerging young artist Lorena Lopez.
