Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is proud to present Broadway veteran and six year Saturday Night Live favorite Ana Gasteyer in “Elegant Songs from a Handsome Woman.” Taking time out from her lead role in the new hit TV comedy Suburgatory, Gasteyer brings her unique comic wit and style to the stage in a lively show of songs and stories.
The comedy superstar dons a dress and works her hardest to keep the evening elegant with her powerhouse vocals showcased in Broadway melodies, and beloved – if forgotten – standards and show tunes from Gershwin to Gilbert and Sullivan. With a gentle assist form Director Julian Fleisher and Bandleader Jon Spurney, Miss Gasteyer fronts a swinging ensemble in an evening that promises to be classy, brassy and sassy or classy, brassy, quirky and tear-jerky, depending on world events and/or her hair frizz factor!
Her dead-on impersonations of Celine Dion, NPR newscasters and Martha Stewart, and guest role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, still resonate with audiences. “Ana Gasteyer’s cross-over appeal makes her an ideal choice for kicking off our new season,” notes the Aventura Center’s General Manager Steve Clark. “Whether you’re a fan of SNL, Broadway shows, musical standards or stand-up comedy, this show delivers.
