Together in Pink Zumbathon® Another Success!

Thanks to Zumbathon Enthusiasts and Event Donors

The InterContinental at Doral Miami once again hosted the Together in Pink Zumbathon® to benefit Susan G. Komen® Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. With gals and guys decked out in Pink Ribbons, Pink Zumba® Gear, Pink Tutus and an endless amount of energy, the dancers spent an energetic and fun morning in support of a great cause.

This year’s campaign culminated on October 28 as hundreds of Zumbathoners danced to the beats of DJ Gringo and enjoyed a special surprise guest appearance by Armando y Heidy.

The Zumbathon® event raised over $25,000 for Susan G. Komen®, with lots more to be turned over to the foundation once the monies raised at the events leading up to Together in Pink are reconciled.

The hotel and Zumba® leaders agree, that despite Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, the supporters rallied behind the cause and went all out to help the InterContinental at Doral Miami raise funds for breast cancer patients and survivors through the Together In Pink Zumbathon®.

“We could not have done it without the support of the Zumba fitness instructors and the donors: MEC Fitness, PSAV, Brown & Brown, Palmetto General Hospital, Westland Mall, Downtown Doral, Befree Media, Sysco, Skin Fitness, the M.A.R.C., BrightView, Miami International Mall, Minuteman Press of Miami, Select Services International, Y. Soler, SocialMiami.com, Sir Speedy of Miami Lakes, and of course the participants who purchased tickets or made donations,” said Randal Pasut, General Manager of InterContinental at Doral Miami.

For the past 6 years, the InterContinenal Doral has hosted a Zumbathon where hundreds of Zumba® enthusiasts dance for 90 minutes with the sole purpose of raising funds and awareness and to find a cure for breast cancer. The monies raised will be put towards local hospitals and community organizations that serve Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, as well as fund groundbreaking breast cancer research.

Susan G. Komen® Miami/Ft. Lauderdale was founded in 1999 by a group of motivated and hardworking volunteers. That same passion has been carried on throughout the years by thousands of volunteers and dedicated board and staff members. Seventy five percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment programs for uninsured, medically under-served women in the three South Florida counties. The remaining 25 percent supports the National Susan G. Komen Research and Training Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational/scientific programs.
