Solea at W South Beach
Cuisine of Spain is the order of the evening

Everyone in social Miami is fully aware that the W Hotel has captured the South Beach scene. With fabulous fashion affairs and exclusive events becoming the norm at this latest Miami Beach ultra-lux hotel, Solea, owned and operated by restaurant veterans KNR Food Concepts, has evolved into one of Miami’s top restaurants for foodies in the know.

Cuisine of Spain is the theme of this hip restaurant that features both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a private dining area that seats 10 and is perfect for business luncheons, intimate birthday dinners or just a night out on the town with good friends.

The Pica Pica dishes are essentially tapas that are perfect as appetizers, or a quick snack before heading to Wall, the posh nightclub at W South Beach. The Pa amb Tomaquet is traditional Catalan style bread with tomato and Spanish virgin olive oil. A truly fabulous and slightly decadent Pica Pica is the huevo frito con patatas, jamon y setas. In plain English, it’s fried egg with Iberico ham, crispy potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms and truffle oil. Another good Pica Pica is gambas con sofrito - sautéed shrimp with “sofrito" and roasted artichoke.

For those who desire a starter on the lighter side, any of Solea’s salads are a good choice. The queso de cabra is made with goat cheese, mesclun greens, white raisins and a pine nut vinaigrette and is out of this world.

Solea entrees are divided into three categories: arroces (rice and paellas), pescados (from the sea) and carnes (from the land). The Paella Valenciana is made with shrimp, clams, chicken and mussels and is perfect for sharing. The Maine lobster casserole with Spanish brandy is another favorite, and meat lovers cannot go wrong with the filet mignon with chanterelle mushrooms and ‘migas.’

The restaurant also carries a vast collection of wines from Spain and elsewhere. In fact, Solea often has special wine dinners and events, so stay tuned to SocialMiami.com for Solea event updates. Reservations can be made by calling 305-938-3111.
