Print Prowess
SocialMiami Examines Spring Trends

One of the biggest trends for spring and summer 2010 is the ever-versatile print. Designer houses like Givenchy, Gucci, Proenza Schouler and Diane Von Furstenberg showed magnetic prints on the runway that flow perfectly with Miami style and swag. The season’s hottest prints are engineered to make a statement in the midst of the season’s otherwise nude color palate. Get in the mood to mix and match patterns or add a dash a color for a maximum impact look that will surely be a stunner.

Floral Print
The eternal youthful and girlish spirit of the floral pattern was presented all throughout the spring runway in a fantastic way. Investing in a gorgeous floral print item will quickly become a wardrobe staple that can be layered with other patterns of the season or against a minimalist ensemble for a delicate feminine touch. Pair a floral print dress with a Chanel inspired clog, a thin brown waist belt and a white blazer, or try a more flirty approach with one of the Dolce and Gabanna rose print corset tops.

Tribal Inspired
To break up the neutral tones of the season, tribal inspired patters like the Native American Navajo print and African folk art prints brighten up the season’s accessories. The prints provoke an interesting ying and yang of modern style, with the prints looking very digital with sharp edges and color blocking while the inspiration is a nod to the past. Mix tribal pieces with the military inspired pieces like a vest or blazer from fall. The looks are complimentary and together are very street chic for after the beach or Sunday brunch.

Geometric
Extreme graphic prints have the ability to be both a showstopper for a night on the town or as a hint of edge when paired with softer daytime looks. The intense print of a geometric pattern dress or skirt can be intimidating and often seem like an occasion piece that isn’t as wearable as the standard monochrome closet staples, but by simply adding a structured vest or billowing tunic the look is changed and can prove quite versatile.
