The NOTABLES annual Black Tie Gala is on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the Miami Beach Resort & Spa, Starlight Roof. Elliot Rodriguez, TV personality and news anchor for Channel 4, is the Honorary Chairman and guest emcee. The Gala Chairman is Vice Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach, The Honorable Lewis Thaler, in loving memory of Madi Thaler. Gala Co-Chairs are Arlyn and Stephen H. Cypen, Ethel Blum Dublin and Edward Dublin, Helen Gaulkin, Marianne and Warren Gilbert, Shirley Harris, and Bernice and Harold Sigman.

Honorees are Betty Madigan Brandt; Sunny Isles Beach Mayor, The Honorable Norman Edelcup; former Bay Harbor Islands Mayor, The Honorable Linda Zilber and Al Kroll.

Gala Underwriters are Isabel May - Cocktail Party and the Slansky Family - Valet Parking. The 2009 Award recipients are as follows: Louis C. Fischer Award - Joan Gale, Lester L. Goldstein Award, sponsored by Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour - Rita and Jerry Cohen, and the Forge Award - Sandra and Honorable Billy Joel.

In 1987, Bella Goldstein and her brother, the late Louis C. Fischer, realized the need for an Alzheimer’s care support group. Now there are more than 1,200 NOTABLE members who have made raising funds for Alzheimer’s care and services at Douglas Gardens their priority. Bella and NOTABLES President, Mickey Dworkin, promise an exciting and surprise-filled evening.
