I am looking forward to remounting the Nilo Cruz adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez' short story A VERY OLD MAN WITH ENORMOUS WINGS at The PlayGround Theatre. We first did the show in 2007, so we are celebrating our fifth anniversary of the production --- with an entirely new cast.

I'm a fan of people watching during Art Basel. I have to go to the Convention Center twice because Wednesday is all about watching the people, and Sunday is more about looking at the art. I love experiencing the influx of New Yorkers and Europeans. And I LOVE seeing people actually walk the streets of Miami Beach, Wynwood, and the Design District.

I'm looking forward to celebrating the opening of American People, Black Light: Faith Ringgold’s Paintings of the 1960s at Miami Art Museum this season! This exhibition represents an unprecedented artistic exploration of the intersections of race, gender and class, made in direct response to the social upheavals of the 1960s. Widely known for African American story quilts, Ringgold’s pointed political paintings disappeared from view for more than 40 years. On the occasion of Ringgold’s 80th birthday, MAM will present the first comprehensive survey of Ringgold’s influential paintings of the 1960s. It's going to be an unforgettable show!

At 9.30 p.m. on December 1, New York-based artist Rashaad Newsome will present Hair Affair & Five, a new performance in collaboration with Miami dancers, opera singers and hip-hop artists. Newsome's performance will be a highlight of Miami Art Museum's annual Party on the Plaza celebrating Art Basel Miami Beach. I'm not going to miss it!!!

For Basel I'm looking forward to seeing my huge dripping psychedelic mural on the outside of the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art.

This season I'm looking forward to the weather getting chilly, next week's "Ramble" Festival at Fairchild, veggies from my friend Muriel Olivares' garden "Little River CSA", new art openings, and Santa Claus coming to town!

During Basel, I am anxious to see the New World Symphony soundwall be used for a video program curated by Los Angeles curator, Christine Kim. It'll be a new creative use of the wall.

This season, I am so excited about Miami Art Museum's upcoming show, " the record" curated by Trevor Schoonmaker. The show is a love fest for vinyl, and equally exciting is going to be the whole host of related community projects put together by miami's music queen, Esther park. Miami will never be the same!

This Miami Basel, I am most interested in seeing the Buckminster Fuller dome and other work by him in the Design District. In addition, our studio at 3825 is mounting an organically produced exhibition, responding to these designs and the developmental changes to come in the area.

Director, The Wolfsonian-FIU
Well, of course I am looking forward to the time of year when Miami shows itself off to the world, who converge on our shores to consume culture, in all of its manifestations.

I selfishly and proudly look forward to the role The Wolfsonian-FIU plays in all of this and our own upcoming events—the 11:11:11 party planned by our Visionaries, taking place at 1111 Lincoln Road. The stars are aligned as we celebrate our 16th anniversary and 11:11:11—and at the stellar 1111 Lincoln Road.

Next, we are excited about a fundraising event that Van Cleef & Arpels is organizing and hosting to benefit the museum, which will include, among other surprises, site-specific performances and installations by Vanessa Beecroft and Nick Cave—curated by Neville Wakefield, and chaired by Leonard and Jayne Abess. It takes place November 30, and interested people can contact Nilu@thewolf.fiu.edu for information.

I’m thrilled the community will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Art Basel Miami Beach, and another Design Miami. The Wolfsonian will be partnering again this year with Vitra Design Museum and Design Miami to host during the fair MUSCON, a speed-dating gathering/mini-conference of decorative and design arts curators from around the world, who will be in Miami Beach for the fairs and will meet at our museum to share projects, information, and collaboration opportunities. We will kick off MUSCON with a talk by the designer of the year.

During Art Basel, in addition to the main showings and the auxilliary galleries, I want to see the new installation at the Sagamore Hotel, which is always tantalizing. I definitely will be bringing out-of-towners to MAM to view the exciting artwork, Schneebett,(Snow Bed) by Enrique Martinez Celaya (inspired by Ludwig van Beethoven's death during a snowstorm). One room ( of the 2 room installation) contains a bronze bed blanketed with a thick layer of frost. Outside "Schneebett," a video performance of one of Beethoven's late quartets is playing. Inside the initial corridor, are a compressor system and cooling tower.
