Mission Statement
The Borscht Film Festival is a non-profit Miami-based organization dedicated to commissioning and showcasing films that tell Miami stories by young professional Miami artists. We don’t just screen films, we create them. Because of our efforts, audiences around the world have enjoyed a Miami richer than its typical depiction as a beautiful but shallow party town.

Every year, using a combination of awards, grants, and tax-deductible donations, Borscht green-lights between six and twelve short films — then throws Miami’s cinematic event of the year to showcase them. Equal parts film festival, cultural event, production company, outreach program, and party, the Borscht Film Festival has been held at iconic Miami venues like the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, and the Tower Theater.

Our narratives, like our filmmakers, were born and raised in the County of Dade. Our mission is simple: to inspire collaboration between members of the idiosyncratic generation who were born in the 80's and came of age with the city itself.

Miami’s incredible homegrown film talent has traditionally abandoned its hometown to work professionally in larger markets like New York City or Los Angeles — until now. By keeping this "Miami New Wave” of filmmakers working in the city at least once a year, we’re building global interest in our wholly original film movement.
