Mission Statement
For the first time Sicilian Cinema is making a name for itself thanks to the Sicilian Film Festival, the American display of the Sicilian cinematography, created in Miami and other cities in the world by Emanuele Viscuso to underline the importance of Sicily, its cinema, its literature and its links with the international Cinema. While showing movies and creating cultural events appreciated by all, The Sicilian Film Festival is creating a new international community through cinema, a new Sicily out of Sicily made of people proud of their origin and culture. While being a social and cultural international event interesting to all, the SFF is creating awareness about Sicily and Sicilians. The SFF is based on the fact that: Sicilians like the Oscar winner Giuseppe Tornatore and others are some of the best Italian directors, After Rome, Sicily is the most sought-after location in Italy for filming to take place by directors all over the world, Half of Hollywood have Sicilian descendants starting with Frank Capra(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sicilian_Americans), There are over 60 million Sicilians in the USA and the rest of the world. They search for a new Sicily with which they can identify. The SFF is creating a new reason of proundness not only for all the Sicilians but for all the Italians in the world.
